Hi there! My name is Kathy and I’m an avid consumer of books and video games. Since I already spend a large chunk of my free time reading and writing books (or at least, trying to), I thought it’d be a great idea to write about them, too. Oh god, what have I gotten myself into…

I’m into all genres, but my bread and butter is fantasy and scifi, spanning from Adult to YA. Those two will be the main focus of my reviews, but there will be sprinklings of other genres every month.

The name of the blog is based on the poem “I am” by John Clare, which is one of my all-time favourites. Struggling with mental illness, Clare talks of loneliness and his yearning for a place of peace in which to rest:

I long for scenes where man hath never trod

A place where woman never smiled or wept

There to abide with my Creator, God,

And sleep as I in childhood sweetly slept,

Untroubling and untroubled where I lie
The grass below ‘n above the vaulted sky.

I understand this desire so very much, and I have always been able to find my own calm and escape between the pages of a book. Hence, the title.

May we all find our peace amidst the chaotic scrawls and musings of humanity.
